VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY (VAEMS 2020)
Association for Environment Management and Sustainability (AEMS) and The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), together organized the Virtual Conference on Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability (VAEMS 2020) under the theme of “Adaptation to Climatic Changes Mitigating Adverse Impacts to Restore Environmental Sustainability” on 21st of August 2020.
Eng Dr. A. G. Thusitha Sugathapala (Conference Chair) from (University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka) addressed the Conference on “Holistic Waste Management – Walk the Talk”, Dr. Sharina Abdul Halim (Keynote Speaker) from the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, delivered her speech on “Strengthening Community Resilience for Effective Adaptation Pathways in Managing Climate and Resource Variability” and Dr. Mohd Hairy Bin Ibrahim (Plenary Speaker), Dean of Faculty of Human Sciences Universiti Pendiddikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia delivered a plenary speech on “Climate Changes, Urban Climate Challenges and Sustainable Development Goals Approach toward Community Sustainability.” All speeches were live streamed on AEMS Official Facebook page.
One of the most significant feature of the Conference was the Publication Workshop led by Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Conference convener) on the importance of publishing Academic papers for career progression.
There were 20 researchers from 11 Countries (USA, Philippines, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, South Korea. Bangladesh, Nigeria, Taiwan Malaysia and Kenya) who presented in the 04 technical sessions in the conference.
Two authors was adjudged to the Best presentation awards at the Conference; Dr. Hoda Fakour from Ms. Chang Jung Christian University, Taiwan for her paper titled as “A Review of Assessing The Potential Impacts of Climate Change on Disinfection Byproduct Formation” and J.D Villanueva-Peyraube from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Philippines for her paper titled “Disaster Risk Management of the Livestock Sector amidst Taal Volcano Eruption: Institutional Challenges.”
The organizing committee invite you all to join with the AEMS and for the upcoming events (5th International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC 2021) and the 2nd World Conference on Waste Management (WCWM 2021) in the fields of Climate Change, Environment management and Waste Management.
